Hello
Just as I said, I had searched for other storage server/appliance and put some of them here, so let start
Data Robotics, DroboPro:
This storage appliance comes with 8 bays and each bay can support HDD with a capacity of up to 2TB, so with all bay full of HDD with a capacity of 2TB, this storage would have a 16TB capacity.
There is useful storage capacity calculator on Drobo site by using this link, which can be used to calculate the capacity and status of the storage appliance in different situations.
More information about this product can be found at this link.
Data Robotics, DroboElite:
This storage appliance comes with 8 bays and each bay can support HDD with a capacity of up to 2TB, so with all bay full of HDD with a capacity of 2TB, this storage would have a 16TB capacity.
There is useful storage capacity calculator on Drobo site by using this link, which can be used to calculate the capacity and status of the storage appliance in different situations.
And one important note here is, DroboElite has been certified for use with VMware vSphere 4.
More information about this product can be found at this link.
Dell EqualLogic PS4000 Series:
This storage appliance comes in 3 model (PS4000E, Ps4000X, PS4000XV).
PS4000E can have 8 or 16 SATA HDD disk with a capacity of 1TB which will end to the total capacity of 16TB.
PS4000X and PS400XV models both have 16 SAS bay and can have HDD with a capacity of 600GB in each bay so total capacity would be around 9.6TB.
Note: All model on this series can support VMware ESX/ESX 3.5 and 4.0.
Note: I think this appliance is too expensive and advance (as this one is modular and redundant on its NIC and power supply option) for a small home lab, but as I found it, I thought let us list it here.
More information about this series can found by this link.
So let’s finish part 2 with just these three Storage Server/Appliance, in the next part, I’d try to put some comparison between all of these models.
Again all comments or notes are welcome.

You can find some more information about NAS on CloudWards as well.
What a great resource!
Another important distinction between the DroboPro and DroboElite is that the DroboPro is a single server, direct attached storage system. Yes, it does have an iSCSI port. But that port is designed to attached to a single sever whether through a switch or directly connected by a network cable. The DroboElite is a true multi-host iSCSI SAN device which can support up to 16 individual non-virtualized host or up to 4 virtualized hosts (VMware, Hyper-V). Use your existing TCP/IP infrastructure to connect the DroboElite to your servers for both primary or secondary storage in a disk-to-disk backup configuration.
The other thing to mention is the list pricing. The DroboPro comes with various bundles with the 16TB system priced at under $2,800. The DroboElite also has various bundles and the 16TB bundle is priced at under $5,100. Very cost effective when compared to other solutions.
Thanks Brad for your valuable information, I will add them to comparison chart.
